Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is an advanced, non-surgical procedure used to treat varicose veins at their source. Guided by ultrasound, a very thin laser fiber is inserted into the diseased vein through a tiny puncture. Controlled pulses of laser energy gently heat and seal the vein from within, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins. This eliminates bulging veins and the discomfort they cause without traditional surgery or general anesthesia. EVLT is ideal for patients with symptomatic varicose veins who are looking for a safe, effective, in-office solution that addresses the underlying venous reflux—not just the surface appearance.

Your visit begins with a comprehensive venous ultrasound to map the affected veins and confirm you’re a candidate for EVLT. The skin is cleaned and numbed with a local anesthetic. A thin laser fiber is then guided into the target vein under ultrasound guidance. During the procedure, you may feel mild warmth or pressure but it’s generally well tolerated. A typical session takes about 45–60 minutes. After the procedure, a compression stocking is applied and you’ll be encouraged to walk right away. Most people resume normal daily activities the same day, with only light restrictions for the first 1–2 weeks.
