Depending on how big and bad the area being treated is, a typical laser scar removal session lasts 30 to 60 minutes. The skin is cleaned and prepped before the laser is used in controlled pulses to target scar tissue and encourage the growth of new collagen. Patients may feel a mild warmth or tingling, like a light sunburn. After treatment, it's normal to have some redness or swelling, but this usually goes away in a few days. Most patients go back to their normal activities soon after, and the changes in their skin become more noticeable as it heals and grows back.
