Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is a condition that affects 90 percent of women and 10 percent of men, in fact, most women develop cellulite after puberty. Your body contains fibrous connective cords that link the skin to underlying muscle tissue, while fat deposits lie inbetween those links. As fat cells accumulate, and the fibrous tissue cords that anchor the skin shorten, adipose (fatty) tissue pushes up against the skin; thus, creating an uneven surface and dimpling effect. Due to cellulite residing in the subcutaneous tissue where fat is mainly regulated by hormones, it is less likely to respond to diet and exercise.

We are proud to offer this service at both our downtown Toronto and North York locations and are happy to service customers from the Mississauga area.

What Causes Cellulite?

What Causes Cellulite?

As research suggests, Individuals who have cellulite have a different composition of connective tissue. This can be triggered by underlying factors such as genetics, sex, age, and a sedentary lifestyle that influence the extent to which cellulite is present or visible to the naked eye. As women age and approach menopause, estrogen begins to decrease. As Estrogen levels lower in the blood, the receptors in your blood vessels causes decreased circulation; thus resulting in a lack of oxygen and nourishment to the area. Skin elasticity then decreases and fat cells accumulate, protruding through connective tissue. This in turn, gives the appearance of cellulite.

Why do women get more cellulite than men?

Why do women get more cellulite than men?

Women are genetically predisposed to cellulite in comparison to men due to estrogen’s role in promoting fat storage and testosterone’s ability to break down fat cells. In women, the structure of collagen which is the main protein of connective tissue, has the appearance of a picket fence, whereas in men it looks like a crisscross pattern with a thicker band; therefore, the crisscross structure is much stronger which aids in keeping fat in place.

Another reason why women get cellulite related to two kinds of adrenergic receptors. When stimulated, alpha receptors constrict the blood vessels triggering the release of sugar into the bloodstream enabling fat cells to be stored. When beta receptors are stimulated increase the heart rate and dilate the blood vessels promoting the breakdown of fat. In women, there is a 1:9 ratio of alpha and beta receptors.

How does laser cellulite treatment work?

Laser Cellulite treatment is a unique, non-invasive treatment that uses dual-wavelength Nd:Yag & Er:Yag laser treatment that tightens loose skin and reduces the appearance of cellulite. The unique, super long Nd:YAG pulse mode is designed to penetrate deep beneath the skin’s surface where the bulk of fat pushes outwards to make cellulite apparent. The laser will then utilize controlled heat to target the fat deposits causing natural cell death, while leaving the skin unharmed. In addition to Nd:YAG pulse mode, A revolutionary non-ablative Er:YAG SMOOTH® pulse mode is applied. By contracting the collagen fibres and tightening the skin this will improve elasticity and firmness to address undesirable textural concerns of cellulite.
