Treatment Overview
Treatment Overview
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which the body sweats too much, more than it needs to keep cool. It usually affects the face, hands, feet, and underarms, and in severe cases, it can make daily life difficult, cause embarrassment, and lead to other problems like infections or irritation. We at NewDermaMed give Botox® injections as a safe and effective way to treat hyperhidrosis. This helps patients feel comfortable and confident again, and the results last a long time.
What to Expect
What to Expect
A standard hyperhidrosis treatment session endures 30–45 minutes. A very fine needle is used to inject small amounts of Botox® into the area that is affected. This temporarily blocks the nerve signals that tell the sweat glands to work. Patients may feel a little sore, red, or bruised at the injection sites, but this usually goes away within a day. Most people go back to their normal activities right after treatment. Most people notice a big drop in sweating within a week, and the best results are usually seen between 2 and 4 weeks.
How it Works
How it Works
Botox stops the release of acetylcholine, a chemical that makes sweat glands work. Botox® stops this signal, which greatly lowers the amount of sweat made in the area that was treated. The procedure only affects the sweat glands that are working too hard, so the rest of the body can still work normally, which keeps natural thermoregulation going.
Maintenance
Maintenance
Most people who get Botox® to treat hyperhidrosis find that the results last for 4 to 6 months. To stay sweat-free, many of these people choose to have maintenance sessions twice a year. Some patients may notice that the results last longer over time as the glands become less active.
