Understanding Under Eye Dark Circles

Causes of Under Eye Dark Circles
1. Genetics The most important factor that determines the risk for developing dark spots. People with a family history of hyperpigmentation, or with thin skin under the eyes are more susceptible to develop this problem.
2. Ageing The skin begins to lose elasticity and collagen over time, the area under the eye is thinner, which makes the blood vessels appear more prominent.
3. Lack of sleep: Sleep deprivation causes fluid retention, which can cause dark circles and puffy eyes which increases the appearance of dark circles.
4. Hydration deficiency: A lack of water can cause skin to appear dull and sunk with dark circles.
5. Sun Exposure Exposure to excessive UV causes melanin production, which causes an increase in the amount of pigmentation around eyes.
6. Allergies The allergic reaction can trigger the release of histamine, leading the blood vessels to dilate and inflammation which can darken the area under the eye.
7. Lifestyle Factors Dietary deficiencies, drinking excessively smoking and excessive alcohol consumption cause poor circulation and skin degrading which can lead to dark circles getting worse.
8. medical conditions: Ailments such as anemia as well as eczema and sinus congestion can create dark circles caused by low oxygen levels and chronic inflammation.
