20% of the adult population have visible varicose veins, and an equivalent percentage may have hidden ones that can, nonetheless, cause symptoms such as aching legs, blood clots and discolored  patches of skin.

Spider veins do not usually have medical symptoms, but are even more common; up to 84% of people have spider veins. If left untreated these veins may continue to enlarge over time and in  some cases cause complications.

Will my day-to-day activities be disrupted?
For the first 24 hours, we recommend the restriction of vigorous exercise. We advise the application of broad-spectrum sunscreen upon the treated area over the next few weeks and or limiting sun exposure until the course of treatment is complete.
Are there any side effects?
Most who experience Laser Vein Reduction procedures report few if any side effects from the procedure. The most commonly reported side effect is flushing, or mild swelling upon the sight of treatment. Most of these side effects will subside within a 24 hour period. Light bruising and in rare instances, blistering may occur.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Post Laser Vein Reduction procedure, some redness or bruising may occur. Most experience little to no pain. In some cases when larger veins are being treated, light or brownish pigment may persist on the surface of the skin temporarily. Those have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time to eliminate strain and encourage healing.
How many treatments will I need?
We often recommend one to three treatments as an average series. Results will vary per individual subjective to size, number and colour of vessel being treated. Some vessels will clear immediately after contact with the laser, others will begin to fade over the course of a few days to a few weeks requiring a repeat treatment. A detailed and personal evaluation can be given during a one on one consultation.
Are Laser Vein Procedures painful?
Most who experience Laser Vein Treatments, find a brief snapping or stinging sensation on the site of treatment as the pulses of energy are delivered to each area. No local anesthetic or oral medications are required, however those who prefer to, may select either option prior to commencing each treatment. Many who experience Laser Vein Procedures find it comparatively less painful thantraditional Sclerotherapy injection treatments.
How do Laser Vein Reduction Treatments work?
Our Laser Vein Treatment includes a specifically selected wavelength applied to each targeted area. These specific wavelengths deliver pulses of light energy, which cause the coagulation of blood within the vein and continues to destroy the surrounding tissue, which is reabsorbed into your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to healthier veins deeper below your skin’s surface.
Can all Skin Types be treated for Laser Vein Reduction?
Our advanced laser technology features a unique design and long wavelength that allows treatment of patients of all skin tones. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal bruising or blistering.
What types of Veins can be treated?
A range of vessels from barely visibletiny Spider veins,also known as Telangiectasia quite commonly found on the facial areato larger, pronounced and deeper blue veins.Spider veins and larger pronounced reticular purple to bluish veins primarily found singularly or in clusters on the legs are often easily treated.Varicose Veins; often identified as larger, physically protruding “Bulging” veins are not ideal candidates for Laser Vein procedures. A consultation with a NEWDERMAMED professional will address which vessels can be safely most effectively treated.
