Photo Rejuvenation, also referred to as Photofacial treatment, is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive procedure designed to improve a wide range of skin imperfections. The treatment involves a technology called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to safely and effectively remove signs of aging and sun damage. NewDermaMed offers photorejuvenation treatments with the most advanced technology available in the cosmetic industry to ensure superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.

Cutera Limelight is a versatile and powerful innovation, providing the safest and most effective treatment through its precision and customized settings. By selecting Program A, B, or C, your medical professional has the ability to customize your limelight facial treatment to your skin type and treat numerous skin conditions all at once. You will notice revitalization of your skin without having to experience any downtime. It can even be done during your lunch hour!

At NewDermaMed we provide all our customers with complementary consultations using the VISIA Skin Complexion Analysis. This technology enables our medical professionals to assess the surface and subsurface of the skin to detect the underlying causes of skin imperfections.

LimeLight Photo Rejuvenation is FDA approved for treating a number of skin imperfections, particularly on the hands, face, neck, shoulders and/or arms, including:

  • Age spots or sun spots
  • Broken capillaries
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation or Brown spots
  • Melasma
  • Mild skin textural issues
  • Redness or flushing
  • Spider veins
  • Sun damage
  • Sun-induced freckles on the hand, chest and face
  • Vascular birthmarks (telangiectasias)

The term photo aging refers to the process of premature aging caused by UVA and UVB sun damage. As ultraviolet light from the sun penetrate the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, it damages the DNA skin cells and causes melanocytes to produce too much pigment. The outcome is the formation of freckles and age spots. Repeated sun exposure without proper protection will undoubtedly result in deeper lines and wrinkles, as well as the increased chances of skin cancer.

The limelight technology repairs damaged skin through the IPL laser light, by targeting the excessive pigments in your skin and the red color of your blood vessels. Patients have a tendency to feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation when the pulse of light is delivered to the skin. Gel is often recommended to be applied before treatment to cool the skin and ease discomfort. Light energy converts to heat, breaking up the targeted cells while leaving the rest of your skin untouched. The old cells containing those unwanted pigments will travel to your skin’s surface and slough off, leaving behind renewed and clearer skin.

Immediately following your session, your skin may appear slightly red. This response is normal and is part of the rejuvenation and healing process. Normally it lasts less than a day. In the meantime, it is safe to use makeup to make this redness less visible.

Please note that depending on your particular condition and skin type, a series of three to six treatments may be needed to give you clear, long-lasting results. To maintain the results of your photo rejuvenation treatments and help prevent further visible signs of aging, we recommend that you use a full spectrum sunblock every day.

What is Photrejuvenation exactly?
Put simply, it is a state-of-the-art treatment for a wide range of skin conditions and imperfections. These treatments are also known as “Photofacials”.
What skin conditions does it treat?
Photorejuvenation is used for skin conditions such as: Age spots, Broken Capillaries, Enlarged Pores, Fine Lines, Hyperpigmentation, Melasma, skin texture issues, Redness, Spider Veins, Sun Damage, Freckles, and Birth Marks. These are very common skin conditions that most have today. We are happy to say that we provide a solution to this! Not just a temporary fix.
What technology is used for this treatment?
Here at NewDermaMed Clinic we use only the best available. For our Photorejuvenation treatment we employ LimeLight technology. LimeLight is the first light-based, 3-in-1 programmable wavelength for skin rejuvenation. The versatility lets us customize your treatment. We always keep our clients first in mind!
How does it target those areas?
The LimeLight targets the excessive pigment in your skin and the red colour of your blood vessels. The light energy converts to heat, which breaks up the targeted cells and leave the rest of your skin untouched. The old cells and imperfections treated will travel to your skins surface and slough off. You will then see renewed clear skin.
Is LimeLight Safe?
Of course it is! This technology by Cutera and is FDA approved. We here at NewDermaMed Clinic wouldn’t have it any other way.
Is it a long treatment?
Not at all! Some of our clients even have this treatment done during their lunch hour. Photorejuvenation will take anywhere from 30-45 minutes for our clients.
How many sessions can I have?
We recommend 3-6 sessions for our clients to have full results. These sessions will be completed at two-week intervals. During your FREE consultation, our Medical Professionals will determine just how many treatments you will be requiring.
Does it hurt?
There is no severe pain! Photorejuvenation feels like a “rubber band snapping” or a “flick” on the skin. Our clients in fact will be more surprised of the light then of the actual application. Here at NewDermaMed Clinic we always have the comfort of our clients in mind when it comes to their very important treatments.
Is there any down time?
None what so ever! As mentioned before some of our clients prefer to have this procedure done on their own lunch hour! After a treatment your face will seem a little flush, as if you had just been in the sun tanning. This is normal and only lasts a few hours. The flushed areas can be covered immediately with your own make-up of your choice.
If this treatment sounds right for me what’s the next step?
It would be our pleasure to book you in for a FREE consultation for Photrejuvenation. Our Medical Professionals will discuss with you more so as to why you have come to the right place. It would also give you a great opportunity to tour our facilities in the heart of down town Toronto. Please do not hesitate to call! Book today!
